about

This piece was conceived when trying to make a piece only using the CS 60 and the Oberheim S.E.M. I love the restrictiveness and liveliness of the synths, you have to be in the moment when playing them to record and compose. The CS 60 can be super expressive but is timbrally limited which is just interesting in itself. I was playing the filter, LFO and envelopes for the leads live, the quiet legato moments feel really expressive.
The track feels like a broad landscape of reluctant melancholy and strength, its simple but is dynamic, it has intricate moments and then huge walls of sound. I think I was in quite an anxious and depressed place around this one but I still had a sense of hope and a glimpse of relief.

about

Matthew Wilcock London

Producer and composer Matthew Wilcock bridges the gap between neo-classical, electronic and conceptual. His latest EP Paint & Dance sees him leave behind his synth and electronic textures focusing on an intimately recorded felt piano. Gently moving between sorrow, thoughtfully melancholic and uplifting, it's a gentle intimate journey that you will want to revisit and sit with often. ... more
